The Story Behind Austa

Austa is shaped by more than the products we make. Its name, visual identity and approach to workmanship all come from a mix of personal history, cultural influence and a belief in doing things properly.

A Name Rooted in Craft

Austa takes its name from Osta (اوستا), a Persian term associated with a skilled or master tradesperson.
For founder Nazir, the name carries a personal connection to his own background in Iran, where he began working in the trades before later building his life in Australia.
That idea of skilled workmanship still sits behind the Austa name today. It represents care, responsibility and the expectation that a job should be done properly.

A Mark Shaped by Australia

After making Australia home, Nazir developed an appreciation for Indigenous Australian art. That influence became part of Austa’s original visual identity when the patterned A was created for the brand.
The mark does not represent a traditional story or cultural connection. It reflects an influence that resonated with Nazir and has since become a distinctive part of Austa’s identity.

Do The Job Right

The tools may have changed, but the principle behind good workmanship has not.
For Austa, doing the job right means understanding what is being made, paying attention to the details and taking pride in the finished result. It is an approach shaped by a tradesman’s mindset, where the quality of the work matters.
That standard now sits at the heart of how Austa approaches its products, its customers and the work that carries its name.
